Ok. First of all, I hate that term, it is such an American-centric term that pretty much cut them, and then the rest of the world into 2 categories. It’s like when you see an Asian or Mediterranean Cuisine restaurant…. what do you mean?!?
Now, let me be more precise on what music I prefer. I love the late 60’s, early 70’s era, especially psychedelic sounds. My favorite bands are W.I.T.C.H the band from Zambia, Lam Toey Chaweewan from Thailand, Kourosh Yaghmaei from Iran and the amazing Kim Jung Mi from South Korea, her album Now has been on repeat for me for the past 10 years.

Now, besides for these particular older bands, I also love Amadou & Mariam from Mali, and West African folk in general. LA Lom from Los Angeles and their latin revival sounds. As well as contemporary Electro sounds like Rüfüs du Sol or Bonobo, or chill Indie Bands like Royel Otis.

One day, while listening to my playlists together, my friend Chris exclaimed “oh you like World Music!” half teasing, half serious, and this sticked ever since.
If you are curious about my music, here is a detailed article about all my favorite playlists and sounds.
